Latex barriers for oral sex

Latex barriers are six-inch square pieces of latex also known as dental dams. They are also used in your dentist's office. Dental dams are placed over the vagina, clitoris, and anus to prevent the spread of STDs during oral sex. An alternative is to use plastic wrap (a non-microwavable type is the best for preventing STDs).

How to use a dental dam

Check first that the dental dam doesn't have any holes. Rinse the powdery talc from the dental dam and let air dry. You can use some water-based lubricant on the vagina or anus to increase the stimulation for the receiver. Spread the barrier over the vagina or anus. Either the partner performing oral sex or the receiver can hold onto the latex. Do not move the barrier back and forth between the vagina and the anus as this could cause infection. Be sure to keep one side of dam towards you and one towards your partner. Don't share or re-use dental dams. Throw away after use.
